Shelley (Acoustic)
Artist:  Dance Hall Crashers
Album:  Blue Plate Special

Elyse and Karina’s harmonies hooked me onto DHC during a time when I was devouring all the punk and ska I could get.  This acoustic version of “Shelley” really lets their voices shine.

Calamity Song
Artist:  The Decemberists
Album:  The King Is Dead

Of all the songs on this album, “Calamity Song” really shows Peter Buck’s influence on the album.  His guitar tracks on this song remind me of the R.E.M. albums during the I.R.S.-era.

Currently, this is my favorite song from The King Is Dead.

A beautiful acoustic guitar song featuring great harmonica playing and lovely vocal harmonies.  This is my favorite slower song from The King Is Dead.

Rise to Me
Artist:  The Decemberists
Album:  The King Is Dead

This song and “The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned)” seem to have been born from the same seed.  Both are beautiful songs.
